...and here's why:
1. They have condenser dryers and not tumble dryers. This has become the bain of my very existence. So much so that we are now sending our laundry out for wash and fold. In doing a cost analysis, it's actually cheaper to do that than to run the condenser dryer for the 3 hours it takes to actually dry clothes until they are crispy. Yes, crispy is the best way to describe your clothes after they come out.
2. It takes a bloody month to get internet in your flat and a blasted 6 weeks to get cable.
3. They don't have much in terms of variety in the food stores.
4. The don't have American football.
5. In the suburbs in places like Manchester, they have a serious bullying problem. Who bullies kids nowadays?
6. Most people here are either toothless or missing quite a few teeth. Go to a dentist! Get yourself some dentures, for christ's sake--do something!
Sure, they may have socialized medicine, Prince William, and very few homeless people, but a girl needs her internet dammit! So here I am in the hot and smelly internet cafe once again writing my blog!
Today we're leaving for Portugal. After quite a bit of blood, sweat, and tears (not really) we got ourselves on an all day wine tasting cruise. We're hoping to meet up with Amanda tonight, but we're staying in different hotels in different parts of the city, so that should be interesting. We are looking forward to Portugal though.
Talk to you soon!
